so was no one was gonna tell me that the painting saturn devouring his son was found painted directly onto the walls of the artist’s home after he died and that it may not even be depicting the greek legend, that’s just the most common interpretation??????

Not only was it painted on the wall of his house, it was painted on the wall of his dinning room.

This is the painting is question by Francisco Goya. Not only was this painting found, but a series of 13 other disturbing pieces of art called his “Black Paintings”. At this point in Goya’s life he had lost his hearing (well most of it) and had moved into a villa where he became a recluse. This was directly after the Napoleonic wars. These paintings were never meant to be found. They were never commissioned and he solely made these for himself.

Catherine L. Moore’s Jirel of Joiry, introduced in 1934 in Weird Tales, was a powerful warrior-queen from 11th Century France or Germany. She was described as “strong as many men,” and kissing her was like “kissing the blade end of a sword.”

She was different in that 1) she was clearly from a historical age instead of some fantastical world or past, 2) she was a straight-up queen instead of a mercenary or adventurer, 3) she had a priest sidekick who loved her like a daughter, and who she begged forgiveness of before she did really devilish carnage, Boondock Saints-style.

Eternal Change for No Energy: A Time Crystal Finally Made Real

In a preprint posted online Thursday night, researchers at Google in collaboration with physicists at Stanford, Princeton and other universities say that they have used Google’s quantum computer to demonstrate a genuine “time crystal.”  In addition, a separate research group claimed earlier this month to have created a time crystal in a diamond.

A novel phase of matter that physicists have strived to realize for many years, a time crystal is an object whose parts move in a regular, repeating cycle, sustaining this constant change without burning any energy.

“The consequence is amazing: You evade the second law of thermodynamics,” said Roderich Moessner, director of the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany, and a co-author on the Google paper.
